Carburetors

Roto engines are highly valued for their reliable and efficient performance, both in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and in model aviation. The WALBRO carburetors used in these engines offer several key advantages over modern electronic fuel injection (EFI) systems.

Simplicity and Reliability

Carburetors have a simpler design compared to EFI systems, which means fewer potential failure points. This is crucial in demanding conditions where reliability is paramount.

Easy Maintenance

Due to their simpler mechanical construction, maintaining carburetors is less demanding. Adjusting the fuel mixture and solving minor issues can be done without advanced diagnostic tools.

Versatility

Carburetors can be used in various types of Roto engines, including both four-stroke and two-stroke variants. This allows for broader applications across different uses.

Cost

Carburetors are typically less expensive than EFI systems, reducing overall acquisition and maintenance costs.

Proper Carburetor Adjustment

Proper adjustment is key to achieving optimal performance and fuel consumption. For WALBRO carburetors, the recommended initial setting for the "L" and "H" needles is 1 and ½ turns.

Temperature Monitoring

To ensure proper operation, it is important to monitor temperatures on cylinder heads and exhaust pipes using CHT and EGT sensors.

Regular Maintenance

Regularly check and maintain all parts of the engine, including the exhaust system and fuel supply. Ensure there is no carbon buildup and that all connections are properly tightened.

UAV ENGINES

Roto engines are tested in harsh conditions simulating real missions from takeoff through the flight phase to the landing sequence. We know that the engines are operated in harsh conditions with dusty environments, but also in rain and cold weather. We have tested all these conditions over the last 10 years on our Roto engines. Based on this experience, we strive to reach 300 hours TBO. In every cooperation with the customer we try to get feedback from flight tests, based on which we can achieve TBO with a great range.
